When the stolen Royal Navy vessel HMS Interceptor sailed through Shipwreck Cay, a graveyard of ships off the shores of Isla de Muerta, Cotton’s Parrot spoke «Dead men tell no tales.«[1] Some time later, during the War of Jolly Roger, the infamous undead pirate Jolly Roger captured the sloop Grim Reaper and turned the ship’s treacherous captain Bo Beck into a living skeleton, devouring his soul. Admitting that dead men tell no tales, he decided to spare Beck’s passenger so that Roger’s enemy Jack Sparrow could receive the news of Roger coming for revenge.[2] When the crew of the Monarch was slaughtered in the Devil’s Triangle, Armando Salazar spared Henry Turner on the account that dead men tell no tales, because he needed him alive in order to deliver a message to Jack Sparrow.[3]

Зажечь еще одну или несколько свечей Генри не решался, опасаясь, что их свет увидит его мать, а ему не хотелось, чтобы она зашла к нему в комнату. Нет, только не сегодня, не в эту ночь, которая должна стать для Генри Великой ночью. Великой, потому что она может полностью изменить будущее, причем не только самого Генри, но и его отца.

Генри наклонился ближе к стене, провел своими длинными пальцами по нескольким рисункам, на которых были изображены жуткие морские чудовища. На одном рисунке – огромный кракен, обхвативший своими щупальцами тонущее судно. На другом – выпускающий фонтан громадный кит с горящими ненавистью красными глазами. А вот разрезающие сине-зеленые морские волны русалки и тритоны, они стремительно гонятся за беспомощно барахтающимися в воде моряками, обнажив свои ужасные клыки.
Пальцы Генри замерли на одном из рисунков. Этот рисунок отличался от остальных тем, что на нем было изображено не морское чудовище, а скорее человек, точнее сказать, существо, которое когда-то было человеком. Из-под низко нависших бровей смотрели человеческие, полные печали и боли, глаза. Правда, ниже, там, где у людей должны быть гладкие или покрытые бородой щеки, у этого существа росли щупальца. Они, казалось, непрестанно шевелились даже на рисунке, обрамляя лицо внушающего ужас и известного на всех морях Дейви Джонса, бывшего когда-то капитаном «Летучего Голландца». Капитан Дейви Джонс был «Проклят перевозить мертвецов в мир иной» и «Имел право сойти на берег только один раз в десять лет». Именно так было написано на рисунке рукой двенадцатилетнего Генри.

Нет, слишком долго и терпеливо Генри ждал наступления своей Великой ночи, чтобы вот так взять и отменить все, что было задумано. Он даже откладывать ничего больше не может, время дорого. Подождав немного, Элизабет Суонн решила, что ее сын спит, и вернулась к себе.
Генри выдохнул только после того, как открылась, а затем закрылась дверь материнской спальни. Генри протянул руку, снял со стены оба рисунка, затем подошел к кровати и подхватил лежащий на ней маленький дорожный мешок. Закинув его на плечо, он задул свечу и в последний раз окинул взглядом комнату, в которой оставлял свое детство. Генри прекрасно понимал, что, возможно, никогда уже не возвратится в этот дом, и мать свою он тоже, быть может, никогда больше не увидит, но не дал этим мыслям укорениться, откликнуться в сердце, тряхнул головой, прогоняя их. Хуже нет поддаться подобным мыслям в такую минуту.
Генри выглянул в открытое окно. Вдали блестела, переливалась на воде бухты, лунная дорожка. Генри перекинул через подоконник одну, затем вторую ногу. Время размышлений, желаний и надежд закончилось. Пришло время действовать.
Генри греб на своей маленькой лодке по мелким волнам Карибского моря. С безоблачного неба светила полная луна, дул теплый, пахнущий солью, ветерок. Море казалось пустым, однако, присмотревшись, можно было заметить резвящуюся в медленно катящих волнах стаю веселых дельфинов.
Плечи Генри устали от весел, болели, грести становилось все труднее. Волосы прилипли к его влажному от пота и морских брызг лицу, но Генри не сдавался, и взгляд его оставался все таким же решительным и твердым.
Внезапно, словно заметив какой-то знак или сигнал, Генри бросил грести. Немного посидел, прислушиваясь к мягким ударам волн о борт его лодки.
В обступившей его тишине мальчик впервые за время своего путешествия вдруг заколебался, засомневался.
«Что я делаю?» – подумал он, но тут же яростно тряхнул головой.
Генри прекрасно знал, что он делает. К этой Великой ночи он готовился много месяцев. Даже лет, если быть совершенно точным.
Что он делает? Он собирается увидеть своего отца, вот что он делает.
Правда, для того чтобы увидеться с отцом, нужно вначале найти его, и для этого от Генри потребуется намного больше силы и смелости, чем украсть в порту лодку и выйти на веслах в открытое Карибское море, кишащее пиратами, акулами и невероятными, ужасными чудовищами.
Генри поднялся на ноги, глубоко вздохнул. Как долго он ждал этой минуты! Мальчик перешел на нос лодки и остановился перед лежащим там большим брезентовым мешком, под завязку набитым камнями. От туго завязанной горловины мешка тянулась длинная веревка.
В фильме «Пираты Карибского моря: Мертвецы не рассказывают сказки» капитану призрачного Летучего Голландца, имя которого Уилл Тернер удаётся наконец свидеться со своим десятилетним сыном по имени Генри, которого родила Элизабет и сообщить важную информацию о том, что спасти его из заточения способен только Джек Воробей. Когда мальчик подрастает, то сам отправляется в плавание юнгой с целью отыскать способ спасения отца от тяжёлого проклятия. Так в одной магической книге он находит запись о том, что для успеха затеи необходим Трезубец Посейдона. Вскоре на корабль нападает пиратское судно с командой мертвецов, которыми командует Армандо Салазар. Убив всех членов экипажа, предводитель пиратов отпускает лишь юнгу Тернера с поручением передать Джеку Воробью, что тому не отвертеться от скорого возмездия.
